First, let me assure you that JROTC has nothing to do with recruiting students to join the military. Students do NOT incur a military service obligation by taking JROTC in high school. Students from eight AISD high schools participate in one JROTC program. The Air Force Junior ROTC course is unique. This course will offer your son/daughter the opportunity to become a positive role model and provide them the benefits of belonging to a group throughout the entire school year. In addition, this course will offer your student the opportunity to be rewarded for his/her individual success in academics, physical fitness and leadership. The JROTC curriculum emphasizes the importance of values such as citizenship, self-esteem, self-respect, service to the community, self-discipline, and responsibility. Students may participate in JROTC as well as other athletic programs. Students actively involved in JROTC create impressive records of accomplishment that benefit them when applying for college admissions and career opportunities.
